The More You Know About Downspouts

Downspouts are very important to a gutter system to keep the water that comes off your roof.

Downspout leads water away from your home’s foundation. Attached to the bottom of your gutters with screws or glue (depending on who installs the gutters). It leads it out of the gutters and lands sometimes on a concrete spot depending on the layout of your yard sometimes you have to install a pipe to lead the water away from your home.

Gutter backup can cause overflow.

Think your downspout has the clog you can take a garden hose to clean out the clog. Perhaps relocate the downspout to an area where the ground slopes at a steeper angle away from your home.

A popular fix is to add a downspout extension. Bury the extension tubing. You can take the water as far away from your home as you like without having a big metal tube in your yard.

Prepare Your Yard For A 4th Of July Party!

The key to a successful 4th of July party is location, and how comfortable your guests are. It doesn’t take a whole lot of work to get your yard in perfect 4th party zone but there are some important steps to getting it ready.

Two Days Before 4th of July Party:

Clean Those Gutters

It’s not technically the season for this, but you know some of you still haven’t done it – when green things are shooting up from your gutters you really shouldn’t put it off anymore!

Tidy Up Garden And Lawn

Pull weeds and trim up bushes. Remove all lawn ornaments that might cause guests to trip or are in the way. Also if you have pets presents, picking them up before you mow might be a good idea so no one’s shoes get ruined.

Straighten Up House Especially The Kitchen And Bathroom

The bathroom is the most important room to make sure that it is stocked and clean for guests to use.

The Day Before:

Mow the Lawn

Surprisingly enough it will be much more comfortable for your guests and for cleaning up after the party.

Scrub Patio Furniture

Make sure all furniture is clean, free of mildew stains, and looking great for your party.

Check Your Grill

Make sure your grill has plenty of propane, charcoal and that it works! Nothing can ruin a party more than not having a functional grill to enjoy your hamburgers and hot dogs on!

A Few Hours Before:

Place Chairs And Tables In Inviting Clusters

This allows for your guest to have a great seating atmosphere and they will be more likely to stay longer if they are less uncomfortable.

Place Tables For Food

Make sure to place your tables on a surface that is flat and stable enough that it will not tip or fall back. That could be disastrous. Also this would be a great time to set up the different station for people to get their napkins, cups, utensils, etc.

Bug Repellent Candles

This is a must. Nothing kills a party more than bugs “bugging” your guests. It might be smart to have a bug repellent station where you have a couple extra bottles of bug spray and invest in some candles like Off Lanterns. The less your guests are being pestered the happier and better it will be.
