Copper Gutters

Post Image

We just recently finished a pretty big copper gutters job in Appomattox. Since we don’t get the chance to do too many we jumped on this opportunity to take many pictures. Here are a few photos of the job. Before .   After     The customer was so happy that he wrote us a lovely testimonial(which is featured on the testimonial page)but below is the full testimonial.   Greetings from a dark Beijing! Many thanks for the nice work on the Pugh house and White House. Working with a vendor from China is a bit cumbersome – but your customer service and transparency made the process much easier.  You instilled confidence in me from Day 1 when we met and this is critical as customers decide between different vendors.  Confidence is a form of trust – created by competency and consistency.  You did this by showing me examples of your work, you stressed that you were a gutter company only (focused on a single quality product) and you did what you said you would do (returned calls, showed up for appointments and answered questions).  Your bid was competitive.  The material (as promised) excellent — I examined it closely when I arrived at the Pugh house from China. You are a valuable asset to your field and your company. Importantly you worked well with my agent in the US (Mr Firth) and he is a tough cookie!  He was pleased with your work and your attitude. In the end – your work is exemplary.  I smiled broadly when I came around the corner and saw it shining in the sun! Many thanks and kind regards from Beijing, Dan” Connect with us for daily inspiration, updates and information: Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram

Removing Ice From Gutters

Removing ice From gutters. The first few months of the new year brings us icy, wet weather that we usually do not want to get out in. If you see that your gutters are building up ice from the cold weather and almost constant rain then there are a few steps that you can take to protect your gutters life and from being damaged from heavy ice. Removing Ice From Gutters can be a difficult job and you should never climb on your roof when it’s icy. The first option – Roof Tablets There are a few different brands you can try such as Roof Melt or KMI. You use these by placing them on your roof and as it mixes with water it runs down creating channels for water to go down. Pros:  Very safe and creates channels for water to drain through. Cons:  They don’t land in place, which negates the whole safety thing— you still need a ladder.  Doesn’t remove the dam, just creates a bunch of holes in the dam.  Also not good for plants if you have flower beds underneath.   Option Two : Salt Sock This can work with both old socks and pantyhose (which are longer).  You can fill these with salts and tie them up.  Then place on your roof. Pros:  Pretty safe method. Cons:  Takes a seriously long time, but again salt isn’t the best for plants, so beware of where the water goes.   Option 3 – Roof Rakes   Roof Rakes are usually the preferred method because of the success rate of avoiding ice dams. After every heavy snowfall, you should use a roof rake to prevent ice dams from even building up. You can get one at any home improvement store. Option 4 – Heated Gutter Guards Another method that prevents ice dams from happening is Heated Gutter Guards.   Heated Gutter Guards are meant to melt the snow before it causes the build up.  This is a pricey method but it works great to keep the snow off of your roof and reduces the chance of the ice dam from happening. We offer this through Mastershield one of the best gutter guards suppliers on the market today. If you decide to try out any of the methods, make sure to use ladder safety to protect your and your home.  If you are unsure of your ladders safety or your ability to do the job, please hire a professional. Gutter Check Up – Winter Gutter Maintenance

Post Image

Gutter Check Up – Winter Gutter Maintenance source Winter is almost half-way over and spring is fast approaching.  Now is the time to see how your home is holding up before the real nasty, cold weather comes in.  Since most homeowners are about to finally take down those lights and decorations that you worked so hard to get on your roof and gutters, it is prime time to check those gutters.  These are a few thing to check to make sure your gutters are in tip-top shape. • It may not be raining at the moment, but you can count on rain in the future. With all the wind we have had, check gutters to make sure they are clear of leaves or other debris. While you are up there, check to make sure support brackets are secure. • Do a test by spraying the garden hose at various points around your roof. Is water draining away at downspouts? Make sure it is not flowing behind the gutters. • If you have ridge vents, make sure these are free of debris. • Prevent Ice Dams – When water freezes along the lower edge of the roof, ice dams form. These ice dams can prevent water from properly draining off the roof, causing potentially costly roof leaks. To prevent this, install roof or soffit vents to assure proper attic ventilation.
