Pollen On Gutter Guards

Post Image

Pollen On Gutter Guards Pollen on Gutter Guards is a common spring gutter issue. In the spring and if it’s particularly dry it can build up. If you introduce sap into the mix it can stick the pollen to your gutter guards creating a mess. Pollen and buds on trees fall onto your roof and gutters, tangling and clumping together. Once wet they become sponge like and if your gutter guards lay completely flat, you will have to physically brush them off your guards. If you do not have a proper ladder or your gutters are too high up, please call a professional. Gutter cleaning professional will take care of the pollen. Make sure to call them AFTER all the pollen has fallen. This could be late May. If gutters need to be taken care of sooner than that, call a professional to avoid any issues. Always consult a professional for repairs and never try to DIY to save money. For a free estimate on gutter cleaning, repairs or adding gutter guards, call us today! Why Should I Install Gutter Guards?

Post Image

Why Should I Install Gutter Guards? Installing Gutter Guards can be a real investment and time saver if you find yourself cleaning out your gutters more than twice a year because they seem to always be filling up with leaves and other debris. Gutter guards could be your solution to cutting back on all that work and making just a routine cleaning/check up in the spring and fall be the only maintenance you really will need to worry about. We, at Gutters & Guards, Inc., offer several different varieties of gutter guards. Three of which we install regularly. The first is our high end gutter guard, Mastershield being the top of the line micro filtration system we offer. It is more expensive than other gutter guard system we offer but the technology and warranty is ahead of other systems. Mastershield offers a lifetime labor and manufacturer warranty. “We guarantee that a gutter protected by MasterShield will not clog. If it does, we’ll replace it or refund you the product cost of the MasterShield installed on your house*. But we don’t stop there: should the clog cause damage claimable against your homeowner’s policy, we’ll refund your insurance deductible, up to $1,500. Unlike some other systems, we don’t just promise to clean your gutter in the event of product failure, we promise a gutter that won’t clog. The MasterShield warranty comes direct from the manufacturer and is transferable if you should sell your home.” (source) The Mastershield system is completely enclosed by a stainless steel micromesh with a nonstick surface to prevent debris from entering in your gutters. So you won’t have to worry about pine needles getting in your gutters and creating clogs. Underneath the micromesh there is a “Hydro Vortex” to redirect water fast throughout your gutters. If you collect rainwater it’s also a purer rain water because it can filter out the majority of debris and shingle grit. It’s a light product that won’t weigh down your gutters but strong enough to keep pests out.  but the aluminum frame is strong and won’t bend up from tree limbs and sticks rolling over them.  Mastershield is available in an amazing 16 colors including copper. And it also has drip edge so you won’t have stripes running down your gutters.   The step down from this product is our screen mesh product. It has a 10 year manufacturer warranty and is made out of an anti-corrosive stainless steel screen-mesh. It’s constructed from durable aluminum material to maximize strength and coated with an industrial paint system to preserve the finish. This product is one of our biggest sellers and a great product we’ve been using for quite some time. It’s available in white, brown, bronze, and charcoal which is not as many as Mastershield. The third most popular product is our leafproof system. Unlike Mastershield and Screenmesh, Leafproof is an s-bend gutter guard that works with rain water momentum to reduce it and allow it to go into the opening. The opening is small ¼-inch water channel opening leaves gutters virtually impenetrable. Made of sturdy .024-gauge aluminum, Leafproof has a lifetime warranty with exclusions. It also sets under your shingles so it’s not an eyesore on your roof. It’s also available in 13 different colors including copper.   We also offer a few types of drop in gutter guards as well. Removing Mildew From Gutters

Post Image

Removing Mildew From Gutters Mildew Happens. If you find mildew on the exterior of your home it does not indicate improper installation but instead that mildew under favorable condition is natural. It’s frequently found on walls where rain water drains. Mildew does not necessarily mean that you are neglecting proper maintenance but it can be a contributing factor. Normally mildew will appear are spots but thankfully there is a cleaning solution suggested by our gutter material manufacturers that can help you clean the mildew from your gutters and get them back to looking great! “Mildew can be removed by using the basic cleaning solution above with the addition of sodium hypochlorite as follows: 1/3 cup detergent (Tide, for example) 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate 1 quart sodium hypochlorite 5% solution (Clorox, for example) 3 quarts water” (Source) Use this solution with a soft bristled brush and a nozzle-less garden hose and it should come clean. Tips And Other Warnings “CAUTION: Do not exceed the recommended concentrations of cleaners; to do so can cause damage to the products’ surface. Avoid skin and eye contact with the solution, and in all cases follow manufacturer’s instructions for the use of cleaning compounds and solutions. Avoid use of abrasive-type cleaners and strong solvents. Test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area before applying to major areas. To minimize streaking, always clean from the bottom to the top and follow with a rinsing of clear water. Excessive scrubbing is unnecessary, can be harmful to the products, and may cause undesirable glossy areas over the finish. CAUTION: Do not use or mix sodium hypochlorite with other household chemicals or products containing ammonia. To do so will release hazardous gases. CAUTION: Use care not to saturate window and door openings when cleaning your Variform siding and aluminum products. TIP: Recommended you start washing from the bottom and go to the top, rinsing frequently. Cleaning solutions should be permitted to stand on the surface of the siding and/or soffit for several minutes before rinsing. TIP: Pay particular attention to areas under eaves, porches, awnings, and other overhangs that have limited exposure to the natural washing effect of rainfall.” (Source) For a free estimate on gutter cleaning, repairs or gutter leaf guards, call us today!
